almost 13 months

Not too much to report as Lucy is completely happy and healthy. (Thank goodness!) She does however, reminds me everyday that she is a toddler. Right now her favorite way is to scream at the top of her lungs the moment we take something she wants away from her. :) I even enjoy those moments - but prefer them at home instead of in a public place.




This week, when the weather was in the upper 80's - we were able to spend a little time outside in the backyard. This summer is going to be so much fun - especially once the new Morton pool is open. Look as this picture...see the area to the right with the permanent shade and a toddler equipment? That is where you can find us this summer! :)

The Best Mother's Day gift...

My sister had her baby! A sweet little boy...with no name yet. Poor guy, hopefully he'll have one by tomorrow! Anyhow, he decided to cooperate, managed to get "unstuck" and make his entrance into this world on Mother's Day.

HAPPY (early) MOTHER'S DAY!

Last year's Mothers Day came 12 days after Lucy's birth and and while it was great to celebrate the fact that I was finally a Mom (and not pregnant anymore) I just didn't have much experience with the new job title. I'm pretty sure I was still trying to figure out how to squeeze a shower into the day. :)

Now that I've had a year with the title "Mom" - I can honestly say it is more than I could have ever imagined. Motherhood is amazing, exhausting, crazy, inspiring, laugh-out-loud funny, tiring, and every other emotion in the book. It is filled with unforgettable moments that will no doubt be some of the best moments of my life. They make my heart swell with happiness. I can't imagine my life any other way, and don't know how our life seemed complete before Lucy was a part of it.





I have a few loyal blog readers who have announced in the last few weeks/months that they will be celebrating Mother's Day NEXT year! A lucky group of kids - as their moms are some of the most genuine, loving women I know - and will be fantastic Mamas! You know who you are... :)

As many of you know, my sister is hoping to celebrate her 2nd Mother's Day with her 2nd baby - a boy! However, it is estimated he is a pretty big guy - and he might be stuck. Send your prayers her way for a safe delivery!

And, I couldn't end this post without a shout out to MY own amazing Mom. Thank you Mom, for showing me how to be a loving Mother. Someday, I hope Lucy thinks as much of me as I think of you. I love you.



P.S. I'm heading to Decatur tomorrow to attend the wedding shower of my lifelong friend Lindsey Boehm. I am so excited to see her and for her wedding in San Fransisco in September!

This has been the best year! We are so lucky and blessed to have Lucy in our lives. We enjoy every second we have with her and are looking forward to another great year! Happy 1st Birthday sweet baby girl!

Two Hours left...

I can't believe it! There are only two hours left before my "baby" technically becomes a "toddler!" (Although she will always be my baby)

Last year on April 27th, I had my last doctors appointment (during the day) and then after dinner Marcus decided to "self clean" the oven. That turned into a fire in our oven (which had locked closed), a broken oven door, and a very stressed out pregnant lady. I guess I can't be mad that it might have put me into labor :)

That night we went to sleep for the last time as a family of two...our lives have never been the same...and we can't imagine it any other way. What a great year we have had - we are truly blessed!

A preview of Lucy's 1st Birthday Party...

We had a great time at Lucy's party yesterday. It wasn't the best weather so I was glad we made the decision to have it inside at our church. It was the perfect venue for the kids to run around, everyone to enjoy cake and ice cream, watch a video filled with some of Lucy's pictures and video of her first year, and of course watch Lucy smash her face with cake. She had to get warmed up to the idea but it wasn't long before she figured it out - the sugar high/meltdown came right as the party was ending :)
