Our first "potta" experience...

was a success! It may have been a fluke, but I'll take it!

I've had this potty for a while now and Lucy has attempted to play with it a few times so it went back into the closet. So the other day we started reading "Elmo goes to the potty" and I figured I'd bring it out. She sat on it "with clothes on" a few times and this morning - once we woke up (thank goodness we are back to almost 7am now!) I put her on it, and and started reading a book - and BAM she did it! She also continued to say "potta, potta, potta about a million times." Haha.

We'll see how this continues, but regardless, it reminds me that someday there will be a day with no diapers :) I'm sure she'll kill me for these pictures someday...but I think they are so cute! The last one just cracks me up - lil Miss Modest! :)

The Christmas countdown is on! I think we just may make it! Although if we have to go see Santa again - we might not! :)

A little under the weather...

So I thought being sick over Thanksgiving weekend would mean we had a few weeks off...but nevertheless I was wrong! Lucy got sick at the beginning of the week and I followed a day later - and Marcus is currently upstairs saying he doesn't feel good, but it could be he just wants to watch his shows upstairs in bed. :) Regardless, it was only a 12 hour thing but it was not fun! Here's to hoping we are done with illness for a while - at the very least - let's get through Christmas!

We are getting in Christmas mode! The Christmas tree is up and has only been pulled down by Lucy once (only one ornament broke thankfully), I'm hoping lights are going up this weekend (but if Marcus is sick this may mean I have to do it), and Lucy is loving playing with her little people nativity that her Nana gave her. Didn't ya know camels go on TOP of the stable and Jesus rode in on a train! :)

Here's a few other recent pics...

Good Intentions

I have really good intentions of updating this more, but it is that time of year and it has gotten SO busy recently!

Not a whole lot to report on Miss Lucy. She's as fun as ever. Er, well, except for this week when she got sick on Thanksgiving night. She's been running a fever and had some "stomach issues." It really snuck up on her fast as she was acting fine all Thanksgiving day and then all the sudden we were about to go home and she had those "issues" and a fever. (Sorry again, cousin Eric and Aunt Shannon - who got the brunt of the "issues.") Minus that we had a great Thanksgiving. We have so much to be Thankful for!

We made room for our Christmas Tree tonight and plan on putting it up tomorrow. We are already laughing at what it is going to look like - with all the ornaments hanging from the middle to top of the tree! :) Let's just say everything is a little higher than they were last year. We are also putting it in the corner of the front room instead of in front of the bay window because we didn't think Lucy could handle it. She LOVES to look out the window, and I'm nervous thinking about what she would have done to the tree to get it out of her way! :)

It is funny to think last year she was sitting up by herself reaching for the one soccer ball ornament that was in her reach. Actually, last year when we were putting up the tree, she started pushing herself up in a push-up position for the first time and then on Christmas Eve she crawled for the first time - oh what a difference a year makes!

I'm also anxious to see how she reacts to Santa this year - she really likes them in the stores, but I'm thinking she isn't going to like him in person!

Over the past week there have been two of my friends who have had darling babies! Last week, Baby Harper entered the world and today Baby Brady! Congrats to Becky and Marisa! I can't wait to meet them both!

Random story - so back in February I was emailing with Becky about a few different things and she mentioned that she and her hubby were thinking about starting their family. I mentioned to her how I had just had a random dream where she was taking pregnant belly pictures on a rooftop with her husband (and me, weird I know) and she was holding a pink ruffled pillow. I also told her that in my dream her mom said she was so excited to have two grandsons and two granddaughters, so I told her that she and her sister will be pregnant soon and that they will both have girls (her mom already has two grandsons). WELL - fast forward - and BAM - I was RIGHT! :) Call me physic or just really lucky, but I was right, but either way it makes for a fun story! :) Now we are just waiting on Rachael (Becky's sister) to have her little girl next week!

Elf Yourself!

Year after year I make this (on the office max site) and think it won't be as good as the last. Thankfully, I'm wrong. This just cracks me up! I've gotta say Lucy's got some moves...I wonder where she gets them from? :)

Halloween!

Sorry for the lack of updates - there hasn't been much to report. One thing that sticks out in my mind is that Lucy is becoming so vocal! She just hit the 18 month mark and everyone says they just take off - and boy did she!

Anyhow, yesterday was Halloween and we had a great time this weekend! Marcus and I dressed up as Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa for a costume party on Saturday night (which we won!) and we made Lucy a Wonka Bar for the "family" costume.

On Sunday we got her dressed in her bee costume (she went as a "busy" bee in my opinion) and went to the Julie K animal party concert. Julie K is a local children's musician who is so fun to listen to! Afterward we went to a few family member's houses for trick or treating. Lucy's favorite part was seeing the "doggies" - the candy was 2nd! :)

10 on Tuesday.... (Favorite things)

1. Her baby dolls. She hugs them and gives them kisses along with feeding them her milk and food. She puts them in her stroller and pushes them, and holds them over her shoulder and pats their backs. It really is so sweet.

2. Reading all 2,000 of her books...okay that is an exaggeration, but really she'd read every one of them every night if she could

3. Dancing to any type of music

4. Lollipops

5. Running around jungle gyms - particularly playing/sitting on top of the dolphin statue at the zoo.

6. Puppy dogs (edited) and kitty cats

7. Ice Cream (she is her mother's daughter)

8. Birds

9. Chocolate (she can sniff it out from a mile away)

10. Fisher price little people

A funny story...

Usually our church service is about an hour long (from 9-10am). However, yesterday it ran a little over. When we picked her up after the service they said she was definitely ready to see us.

Apparently, at 10:00am (when the service normally ends), she pulled someone over to her diaper bag and insisted they take it off the hook and let her hold it. She then carried it over to the door and knocked on the door for someone to let her out. Apparently, she was ready to go. :)

She's a smart one I tell ya!

Illinois Cheerleader in the making!

This weekend we went to our first football game of the season! It was a little chilly, but overall not too bad. Lucy fell asleep wrapped in a blanket for the whole second half, but was ready to learn all the cheerleader moves at the tailgate after the game.

On the way to the game)

Brrr....

After the deathly hot summer the recent cool air was a nice break, but now that we've had a few days of it - I'm missing summer. :)

Today Lucy wore her first "fall" outfit to church. This is her "bed head" look - but her hair is getting so long! She's becoming such a big girl!

Pumpkin Fest 2010

Well the Pumpkin-fest came and went again this year. Lucy went on her first "ride" - the big slide (with mom). Marcus and I, as always, enjoyed pork chops, Uncle Bud's cider, and of course pumpkin ice cream! (Lucy's favorite was the ice cream!)

We live right on the parade route, so we always get excited for the Saturday parade, but unfortunately right when it started, it got canceled due to the rain/weather. Lucy did get a few pieces of candy, so it wasn't a total bust. :)

On Friday, our friends and their son James came down from Chicago. James got to ride his first ever "ride" by himself - the cars - and did a great job! Lucy can't wait to ride it with him next year! James and Lucy are one day and one year apart, so every time I see him I think "this is how big Lucy will be next year at this time." It's hard to believe she'll be telling us in complete sentences what she wants next year! There is no doubt in my mind it will be Pumpkin Ice Cream! :)

These photos were taken by a local photographer that had a "photo booth" at the festival. Lucy was jumping up and down like a crazy woman for most of the pictures, so I'm pretty impressed these turned out as well as they did!

Hello Fall!

The wedding in San Fran was beautiful and it was a fun weekend visit. Lindsey (the bride) was beautiful and everything was so unique and fun!

We were able take a tour of the city as well as a trip up to Muir Woods, and lots of fun things along the way, Fisherman's Wharf, shopping, Trolley cars, good food, etc...

Oh man, and those hills....that is something I can't get used to!

One thing I was surprised about is - it is NOT warm in San Fran right now! There were some beautiful FALL days, but it made me enjoy last few warm days we have been having in Illinois! :)

Today, Lucy and I went on a Mom's playdate at Ackerman Farm in Morton. We learned all about different types of pumpkins, took a hayride, and saw/petted a few animals. I was able to take a few picture of her with her pumpkin hat on before all the other kids got there. I can't believe how much she has changed since last year! But, still the cutest pumpkin in the patch! :)

Traveling Pants

Last weekend we went to Chicago to visit some friends and go to Ravinia for a Counting Crown concert. It was lots of fun! Lucy even came to the concert with us (it is really just a big yard - and people just bring chairs, tables, food and drink) and visited with her buddy James.

This past weekend we traveled back up to Chicago and saw more friends. Marcus had a guys shindig on Thursday night and I stayed with my friend Katie who I hadn't seen in about a year! Lucy LOVED her dog Henry.

Then on Friday, I drove to the city to see my long-time friend Lexie who is back from living in New Zealand! We stayed with her on Friday and went out with Marcus and a few friends for dinner! Then Saturday Marcus played golf and I shopped and played in the city before heading out to the suburbs to meet up with Marcus and go to our friends house for a cookout. We stayed there and got up early for my nephew's baptism on Sunday morning in Bloomington!

Whew! What a weekend. But I counted and I saw at least 17 friends - in one weekend! Really - a weekend can't get better than that!

This weekend we are packing up and flying out on Friday to San Fransisco! My life-long friend Lindsey Boehm is getting married and it is going to be such a great time!

So, lots of traveling and lots of friends! Thankfully, Lucy goes with the flow and is a pretty great traveler! (Although she was a little cranky at times with her first left lower molar coming though.) The next few weekends are busy too, with U of I games and a few weddings, but you only live once right?

I figure, we can relax and stay put at home - in the winter - when it is cold and snowing and we don't want to go outside!

Maggie's Birthday Party

Three days after Marcus's 30th birthday was Maggie's 2nd birthday! We celebrated at the Bloomington zoo. It was lots of fun and the kids loved the animals. Unfortunately, Lucy was not a fan of the carousel. Maybe next year! Here are a few pictures.

Happy Birthday Marcus!

Today is Marcus's 30th birthday! In college he turned 21 at least a year before any of our friends and having such and early birthday was pretty nice, but I'm not sure he is enjoying turning 30 first! :) Just kidding, we both realize we are still VERY young and really do look forward to every year we get - especially with our little lady!

I absolutely adore this picture. I was taking Lucy's picture out in the backyard tonight - right when Marcus got home from work - and I snapped this right as he walked in the backyard. Pure joy! She sure is "Daddy's little girl." There is no question she loves her Daddy - as do I! (p.s. is this curl not the cutest thing you've ever seen)

Happy Birthday Daddy! You are the best!

15 month checkup

We had Lucy's 15 month check up last week. She is growing like a weed - literally! She grew over and inch and a half in 3 months! She is now 31.5 inches (which is the 85th percentile for her age) - at her one year appointment she was in the 50%-60th percentile)! Maybe she'll be taller than we thought!

She now weighs 22lbs 9 oz. (48% percentile). Which kinda makes me laugh considering she was almost 9 pounds when she was born!

I think I've heard they say most babies triple their birth weight by their first birthday! At this rate I'm not sure we'll hit 27 pounds until she is at least 2! :) Haha.

But the overall report is she is doing perfect and is happy and healthy! Couldn't ask for anything better!

Lucy LOVES walking in my red high heels!

Her favorite new slippers! Elmo!

This was taken after I left the kitchen for a moment! :)
