Decatur Celebration 2009

Last weekend Lucy and Mom went to Decatur to meet her "great" Uncle Lew and Aunt Margaret who were visiting from Dayton, Ohio. (Dad had a class all weekend).

Last November, while they were visiting, Marcus had a little run-in with their car. We won't go into details, but they said they would forgive him if we named our first born after them. We held up our end of the bargain :)

We didn't think our daughter would appreciate the first name "Lew" so the best we could do was Lucy! :) Lucy's middle name "Mae" derives from the name Margaret - so not only does Margaret have a namesake in Cousin Maggie Jo's name, but also in Lucy's.

We went to the Decatur Celebration Parade (a first for Lucy and Cousin Maggie) and also walked around the Celebration (until the heat became too much).

The theme of this year's Decatur Celebration was "Welcome Home Mr. Lincoln" as 2009 commemorates Lincoln's 200th birthday. We thought we needed a picture with Lucy and Lincoln as they were born exactly 200 years apart! Obviously, Lucy was not as excited about the picture as we were :)

This weekend is Cousin Maggie Jo's first birthday party! (I'll be sure to post pictures!) Not only is August 15th Maggie Jo's birthday but it is also the day that Marcus and I found out we were pregnant. So, obviously August 15th, 2008 will always be an extra special day for us! We are looking forward to celebrating a great year and the two perfect baby girls in our family!
