We are currently half way through our summer vacation in Hilton Head. Back in the day I used to wake up early to get a good chair by the pool - now I look forward to how late Lucy will sleep. I also throughly look forward to a nice long nap in the afternoon (who cares if I am missing the best sun of the day!) :)

Seven Weeks!
Ms. Lucy is seven weeks old! We haven't had a doctor visit in a while, so I don't have a confirmed weight, but by our scale she is at least 12 lbs! We had another checkup at the Ears, Nose and Throat doctor last week - and he continued to say that as long as she is gaining weight (which obviously is not a problem for her) that no treatment is currently necessary.
Lucy and Mom spent the weekend before last in Decatur. Marcus was at a friends bachelor party in Milwaukee and Lucy and I decided it would be nice to spend some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa J. Mom got in a few naps that weekend and even did a little shopping!
We have a busy summer coming up! We are traveling to Chicago this weekend for a wedding and a friends bachelorette party. Then we will be returning to Chicago next weekend for another wedding! Then, after the wedding is over we will be driving back to Bloomington that night so we can fly to Hilton Head first thing on Sunday morning! It will be a crazy few weeks, but filled with lots of fun! Lucy (and Mom and Dad) are looking forward to vacation!
On a sad note, Uncle Chewy is no longer with us. We (the whole Jacoby family) miss him greatly, but are thankful for the 13 years we had with him. He brought an immeasurable amount of joy to our lives and was an important member of our family. We couldn't have asked for a better companion. I'm thankful Lucy got to meet him.

6 weeks!
Tomorrow Lucy is six weeks old! We can't believe how fast she is growing! I saw my friends adorable baby girl yesterday and she is 3 weeks old - and she made Lucy look like giant! I can't believe she was that little a few weeks ago! We haven't weighed her in a while - but we think she is close to 11 lbs!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, Lucy was dedicated last weekend! She wore the family baptismal gown that has been in our family for over 100 years. She looked adorable and was a perfect baby! After her dedication and lunch with the families, we headed to Ottawa to have a few pictures taken by my friend Makaya. As always, she did a great job and got a few adorable shots. (See below).
This past weekend, Marcus was out of town so Lucy and I headed to Decatur for a long weekend. I am fighting a cold, so it was nice to have Grandma and Grandma Jacoby's (aka Nana and Big Jake) help for a few days! We did some shopping, napping, eating out and even got to meet a few great family friends! She really enjoyed spending a few days with Grandma and Grandpa J.
Although I would have loved for her to stay a newborn forever I am really enjoying her becoming more of an infant. She is starting to show her own personality and is really picking up on everything around her. She is becoming more calm and content everyday. She has great eye contact and really follows people when they move and talk! She has been smiling for a long time, but this weekend I am pretty sure she responded to me talking to her with a smile! What a great feeling! I am looking forward to more of those!
I have to get going to get everything together for my first day back at work tomorrow. Babies need a lot of stuff - even if it is just for a few hours! :) I met with the babysitter today to go over all the last minute details - and met her adorable kids (5 yrs., 3 yrs., and 9.5months). The older two kids are so excited for Lucy to stay at their house during the day! The three year old little girl is so excited for another girl in the house! The first thing she said when she met her was - "She's cute, I love her" - how sweet is that? :)

Four Weeks old!
I can't believe Lucy is a month old! It feels like yesterday when we were driving to the hospital in the middle of the night.
She continues to be a great baby. We are getting into a little bit more of a schedule and sleeping pretty well during the night. Most nights she will sleep from around 12:30 or 1pm to 6:00am! Last night she slept from 12:30am to 7am! Mom and Dad really appreciate those kind of nights!
Lucy had her first real road trip this past weekend! We drove to Chicago to see some friends and introduce them to Lucy! (Lucy even got to meet some new friends her own age - see pics below). She slept the whole way up in the car and was very well behaved during the whole trip. We stayed the night on Saturday and then drove to Decatur on Sunday to celebrate my Mom's birthday! THEN, if that wasn't enough, we drove back to Peoria for Marcus' cousin's graduation party! She was the hit of the weekend!
She is starting to get more of a personality and continues to smile and make lots of noises. We haven't been able to tell if she is smiling because she is reacting to us or "just because." She is the sweetest baby. She loves to cuddle and her favorite place to sleep is on Mom and Dad's chest.
We did take her to the Ear/Nose/Throat Specialist and we did learn that the "bird calls" she makes is due to a condition called Laryngomalacia. It is a very common condition of infancy, in which the soft, immature cartilage of the upper larynx collapses inward during inhalation, causing airway obstruction. In most cases, including hers, they just keep an eye on it and usually the baby will grow out of it by the age of one. So, we are just planning on having a very vocal baby for the first year. We are very thankful that it seems to be a small problem that will not require any treatment.
Lucy is being dedicated this coming Sunday at Grace Church in Morton. She will be wearing a family gown that is over 100 years old. Keep an eye out for more pictures!

Three Weeks!
Sorry for the delay - it is a little harder to find time to update now! :) I promise to be better in the future!
Well... Lucy is almost three weeks old! I can't believe how time has flown! It is hard to remember what life was like without her, but it blows my mind that she is almost a month old! With that being said, I am half way through my maternity leave. When I go back in June I am only working in the office for two mornings a week, and the rest of the time I will be working from home. I have been doing a few things for work here and there, but i have a feeling it is going to be a little tougher than I anticipate to juggle a baby and work at the same time. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of work at night!
Lucy is doing well and growing like a weed! At her 2.5 week checkup she was 9lbs 12 oz (90% percentile) and 20.5 inches (50% percentile). Everyone comments on how alert she is and how well she follows people with her eyes. She has had a lot of visitors and has met a lot of new friends over the past few weeks.
We had a great Mother's Day! Lucy had her first road trip and traveled to Decatur for brunch with my parents, Erin, Steve and Maggie. Coincidentally, Maggie and Lucy wore matching outfits! (Their moms didn't even plan it!) After brunch we posed for a few pictures and Maggie ended the photo session with a fun surprise! :) (see pictures below)
Since Lucy came home she has been dealing with a bit of a "squeak" in her nose or throat. Particularly, when she breathes deep or is feeding. The pediatrician doesn't think it is anything serious but is sending her to a an ears nose and throat specialist to get it checked out. I will keep you posted with the results of that visit. We tease that she is making bird calls because it sounds so much like a bird and for this reason (as well as the fact that we teased her middle name should be "goosey") - her official nickname is "goose."

Lucy's First Week
Just a quick update...
We all made it home from the hospital and are doing well! Lucy is a very good baby and Mom and Dad are loving every moment. Even the sleep deprived ones! :) Below is a video with pictures from Lucy's first week! Enjoy!
