Sorry, Sorry Sorry!

I get so behind on posting!

I need to keep up on it not only for anyone who reads this (is there anyone out there?) but to keep track of all of Miss Lucy's milestones! Then I can add them to the baby book later! :)

Here is a few more...

Lucy's second tooth came in a day after the first! They aren't fully in yet, but boy are they cute! :)

I know I already told you she can pull herself up - but now she is a pro! Before she needed something to be the perfect height for her to pull herself up with, but now she'll use anything - pile of clothes, slats on her crib, anything. This morning when I went in her nursery to get her she was just standing there looking at me like "I've been waiting for you..." Here is a picture of her showing how good she is at standing - look one hand!

Lucy was a great sleeper from birth through about 5 months. (great being defined as - as good as expected) But we've been struggling with her sleeping well ... for a number of months now. I know it is my fault, I'm sure I held her too much and babied her more than I should have, but what can I say - she's my first baby and she's just too sweet. I've heard people say to hold your baby as much as you can, because by the time you have baby #2 you just don't have the time to cuddle! :) (That is going to be my excuse)

Anyhow, she didn't like sleeping in her crib, didn't like her being in her nursery all alone, wouldn't fall asleep without someone right next to her, couldn't stay asleep longer than a few hours at a time, wouldn't take naps longer than 30 minutes in her crib - the list goes on and on - but I think (knock on wood) we have success! After a long few nights and nap times of practicing a sleep training routine that involves a pick-up/put down method - I think we are on the right track. A lot of people do the "cry-it-out" method, but it just wasn't for us. I didn't like the idea of her screaming herself to sleep until she finally was so tired that she gave up. Oh don't get me wrong - she still screamed and cried and was not a happy camper, but the theory behind the method is you are training/teaching them that it is time to sleep, but that you aren't deserting them. It did become a bit harder, as she now can sit up/stand up on her own - so it was pretty much just a "put down" method - but I think she finally has the hang of it!

Now she pretty much goes to sleep on her own after I set her in the crib, around 7:30 or 8, and sleeps until 6am! Every once and a while she'll wake up in the middle of the night take her paci and then go right back to sleep - but hey even that isn't too bad! And she goes to sleep in her crib for two naps per day too. The best part is - she doesn't look at her crib as torture anymore. I actually think she is starting to like it! (or tolerate it) Hoorah!

She is also starting to show the first signs of really wanting to take steps. She will hold onto her walker and if I let it go a few inches forward she will start taking baby steps! I can't believe she is only a few weeks/months away from being a walking/talking toddler!

Anyhow, here are a few pictures...oh and Christmas was great - she had a great time, (as did her parents) - she was definitely spoiled by Santa and her grandparents!
